I had a problem. Over half of my schedule needed to be changed.
Ever since registering for my classes a few weeks ago, I felt uneasy about my schedule. I decided to look it over. I went on to rate my professors and saw that most of the professors had new reviews, reviews that weren’t there when I initially signed up for classes. Here are some of what the students have said:
“misogynist”
“doesn’t care about his students”
“lots of homework”
“unhelpful”
Yeah…I needed to re-work my schedule.
The problem was that the best professors had already been picked. Every class was full. This felt like a repeat from last month. (You can read about it here.)
What was I to do?
I looked at the course requirements for my major. I looked class by class. Every class was either full or the professor had poor reviews. 🤬
I filled my schedule with gen-ed and course electives. With a lot of creativity and digging, I was able to craft a schedule I was happy with. I looked at my schedule. 14 credits. That’s 0.5 credits less than this semester. That seemed doable. But there was one class that I couldn’t get off my mind: Financial Accounting 201.
I double checked, just to see if maybe I had overlooked it. Nope. There were 4 classes offered, all of which had a waitlist of 15 or more. I thought, “Maybe I’ll email, just in case.”
I found the professor seemed like the best match for me, and sent her an email. I asked what the chances were that I would be admitted into her class.
She got back with me immediately. “Sorry, unless you’re waitlisted #5 or #6, you’ll likely not get into the class.”
Oh, well. I tried.
The next morning, I woke up to another email from her: “They increased my class size from 30 to 50. There are still a few spots open if you want to join.”
I jumped out of bed and immediately added the class. It fit perfectly with what I had already signed up for. I sent her a thank-you email.
As it stands, I have 17 credits:
Accounting 201
Search Engine Optimization
Writings of Isaiah
Professional Presentations (like public speaking, but you design slide decks)
Drawing 1
English 150
I’ll likely drop a class next semester. I’ll wait until I get a feel for each one, then decide later.
As of today, I’m finishing up the last of my finals. I’ll tell you all about how they’re going next week. Hopefully, by then I’ll have my grades to post as well!
