My roommate told me to make my schedule in advance, so when registration opens up, I already know which classes to register for, by what professors, and at what time. That sounded like a good idea to me. So I did. It took about 4 hours.

What I didn't realize was that registration is staggered. Because I am still early in my school career, my turn to register is last in line. The bottom of the barrel. The classes nobody else wants.

A few days before my registration time opened up, I had the thought that I should double-check if the classes I want are still available. I put that thought away. Surely, there wouldn't be any complications.

When I put together my pre-schedule, I marked the classes I wanted most and added backup options in case, by some strange act of God, my first picks were already taken.

Minutes before registration opened, the thought that I should review my pre-made schedule wouldn't get out of my mind. So, I decided to check, just in case.

Chat, every single class that I was hoping to sign up for had already been filled.

I did not want to stay up all night doing that again.

Thankfully, we live in 2025, and thanks to the curse on humanity that is AI, I don't have to.

I looked up which classes I wanted, and then filtered by who still had seating availability. I took the list of names, copied them, pasted them into ChatGPT, then asked chat to go on rate my professors, and tell me whose rating is the highest, and then annotate who was friendly, a light greater, and easy on homework.

Judge me if you want, but because of ChatGPT, I took a four-hour task and turned it into a 40-minute task. Not only that, but I was able to pick new classes and still have high rated professors.

Here’s my class schedule for next semester:

This schedule is more of a placeholder. I maaaaaaaybe might have employment soon. I’ve applied to a few places, and I’m starting to hear back from them. If I do have a job next year, I’ll need to re-adjust to accommodate it. I’ll definitely be using ChatGPT to help re-plan it then too, and the next semester, and the semester after that.
