I’ve been walking everywhere since my car was totaled 2 years ago. Now, someone might be gifting one to me.
I’m trying not to get too excited, but it might be happening.
Last week, I made a post on Facebook announcing that I’ve moved to Idaho to go back to school. I woke up to a text message from my cousin, who was living in South Carolina.
She told me that she had just moved to Idaho with her boyfriend, and she wanted me to visit. We haven’t talked in a few years, and I had to tell her I didn’t have a car. Without hesitation, she said that she had an extra vehicle and said I would be able to have it.
Whaaaat?
The details are still being worked out, but it seems like this is actually happening. This would be huge for me.
I’ll be able to offer other people rides for once.
I won’t be hesitant to apply to internships that are outside of Rexburg.
I’ll be able to explore places like Yellowstone or Jackson Hole.
I’ll be able to accept that opportunity to dog sit for my friend who lives in Idaho Falls.
And perhaps most importantly, I won’t have to walk to places like the grocery store or church when it starts to snow.
I don’t assume I’ll just have the car. I would be willing to do what I can to pay her back or return it if circumstances change. I also don’t want to get too excited until the keys are in my hand …
But I might actually have a car.
This is the week before Thanksgiving break. I will be doubling up my schoolwork so I don’t have to work over the holiday. Hopefully, that will take my mind off daydreaming about what it would be like to be behind the wheel again.
